Staphylococcus epidermidis

Staphylococcus sector (staphylococci), small, white, slightly pinkish colonies, translucent.

Staphylococcus epidermidis is a less common cause of mastitis in dairy cows. It is naturally found on human skin and the hands of milkers are a source of contamination for milking equipment and the skin of the mammary glands of dairy cows.

It penetrates the udder through Staphylococcus epidermidis the teat canal, and the infection is often spontaneously eliminated, meaning the bacteria does not always cause mastitis. If inflammation occurs, it is usually milder.
